Welcome! I’m Sherene, the baker behind this blog, AKA the person who cries over every single photo, reads marketing emails for fun sometimes, and spends a lot of time dancing in the kitchen. Thanks for taking time to get to know me.
Meeting people in person is already hard enough, so I’m going to try to make this easy for us. I made some icebreaker questions (no one’s making them for me unfortunately), and I’m going to answer them for you.
A. Why start a food blog when there’s so many out there? I have Google and more than enough family recipes.
When I started baking, I had no family recipes. There was me, the wild west of the internet, and my parent’s tomato and egg dish (very delicious, doesn’t contain any chocolate). But I loved baking. It’s so fun to pull a dessert out of the oven that’s basically the best edible candle, and share it with friends. So, I wanted to create a resource that would make learning baking and finding reliable recipes easier, just in case, you also do not have a perfect family apple pie recipe.
B. Who even are you?
That’s a great question, I’m not sure. According to other people, I would be a bookworm, student, shy or really obnoxious person (depends who you ask). According to me, I am an inconsistent texter (I will text you back quickly, but it will either be in perfect formal writing or dry lowercase texts with smiley faces), an anxiously attached hopeless romantic, an exhausted worm, and advocate for mental health. Please take care of yourself and go drink water 😊. Maybe bake yourself some of these dark chocolate brownies too if you have the energy.
C. What are your recipe standards?
If the dessert is bakery worthy yet simple enough for me to make while sleep-deprived and grumpy, I consider it a good recipe. I test all my recipes to be packed with flavour without being too sweet. They also solve common baking problems and work to remove tedious steps or uncommon ingredients. You’ll see the features of each recipe in the recipe post. Each post also contains information about every ingredient used, clear instructions and an FAQ section.
I currently don’t have the resources to have beta testers to test my recipes in different altitudes and humidities with people of different skill levels, but I write my recipes to be as foolproof as possible. If you make my recipes, please leave a review and let me know how it went. I’m always striving to improve the quality of this blog for us!
D. Can I be your friend?
Why I thought you’d never ask! I’d absolutely love to be your internet friend. I’d love to know a bit about you, what got you into baking and any suggestions you have for the blog. If you’re searching for anything specific and have any baking questions, please reach out too. You can contact me through the contact page on this blog, or DM me on Instagram. Can’t wait to meet you!
Lots of love,
Your baking friend Sherene ❤️
